Peter Droussiotis is interviewed, in Greek, on completion of his first year as President of the National Federation of Cypriot Organisations in the United Kingdom. He talks about the renewed climate of optimism regarding efforts by President of the Republic of Cyprus Demitris Christofias to reach an agreement with Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, and calls on all parties to reinforce the efforts to find a Cypriot solution to the Cyprus problem. The Federation has unveiled a new website, visible at www.cypriotfedertion.org.uk which seeks to improve communication with its members and the broader public. The interview also serves to launch publicity about events during Cyprus Week 2008 which is organised jointly by the Federation with Theatro Technis, to provide a cultural and political program of events to mark the 34th Anniversary of the Greek Junta Coup and then the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. and The island is still under occupation by Turkish troops 34 years later. Events include a Lobby evening at the British Parliament to start events on 8th July and an end with a demonstration from the Turkish Embassy in Grosvenor Square to Trafalgar Square on on Sunday 20th July 2008. Various additional events take place at Theatro Technis, with additional details and video archives of all events being detailed available from the Cyprus Week section of its website at: www.theatrotechnis.com
